Viewing media on the web.

After my switch back to Firefox from Safari I was looking for a search add-on for videos and images for Firefox.  I ran across a pretty neat add-on that reminded me of the fun of browsing YouTube with the Interface of the FUTURE.   Oh wait that’s EXACTLY what it was like.

A FEW caveats, you will need Firefox and a computer with a little power (something more recent than 5 years) and a broadband connection.  You simply install the add-on  by going to the PicLens page in Firefox and clicking “Add to Firefox”.  After a few confirmation dialogs and restarting Firefox you get an icon in the upper right next to your search box.  Clicking this blanks your screen and you can then explore and search like never before (ok there have been other tools like this but it’s still cool).   The BEST way I can show this is with a couple pictures.

Yeah it’s pretty cool.  It does have some performance and if you like to switch around windows you can get a bit locked up (hit the ESC key) but it does provide an EXCEPTIONALLY COOL WAY to browse media on the web.
