After a long Safari I’m back in my foxhole

June 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Well I gave safari a BIG shot but now I’m back to Firefox. Yep… Good old no NEW Firefox 3!

It’s got a bit of new paint but I’m really happy with what’s under the hood.

  • First off they fixed a bunch of memory leaks and performance issues. From their explainations they done us right and fixed it.
  • Then some small UI tweaks.
  • Plug-ins are better handled
  • Security is tighter
  • Location bar is more intelligent not only does it work with domain names it works with titles.

Overall 110% better. I did have a problem with screen refresh but found that it was another app from MS that had left something running in the back.

The BEST part is that it’s FREE! So download Firefox 3 and check it out!

BUT wait you say… what about Safari for Windows? Why are you giving it up?
Well one word… Addons. Yep I missed my Scribefire, Adblock and others that made my work so much easier. Safari just doesn’t have it. OVERALL great performance and rendering but that’s goes only so far. Safari isn’t an uninstall just no longer going to be my default.
