Years ago there people could send quick small messages from terminal to terminal and it was good.
Then they could send messages to groups of people
Then they could chat in groups together and it was good
Then you could chat with people using other chat progams and it was good.
Now there’s something even better!
After reading an interesting article on LifeHacker on the 5 Best Messaging Apps I took a look at Digsby. While a relative newcomer it makes a EXCITING entrance. While it has what we’ve come to expect from most chat clients below are some of the features worth mentioning (there are more but I don’t have ALL day)
Operating Systems
- Windows
- OSX
- Linux
Chat Systems
- AIM
- MSN
- Yahoo
- ICQ
- Google Talk
- Jabber
Email Accounts
- Hotmail
- Gmail
- Yahoo Mail
- AOL/AIM Mail
- IMAP
- POP
Social Networking SItes
- MySpace
It is STILL a beta but runs stable and is a LOT less rough than other ‘betas’. They do have frequent updates but they are unobtrusive.
For people who have a LOT of buddies, friends, followers this is a GREAT way to quickly be informed without having to open a browser, and type. With the development team hard at work NEW social networking features can’t be far behind.
