Microsoft just released Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 yesterday. Touting more support for Internet standards and improving security IE 8 will try to live up to the hope that we had for IE7
- Standards Compliance - IE8 passed the ACID 2 test and should allow people to code to standards instead of to browser quirks (tech heads should get the joke)
- Webslice technology - Pull parts of a web site without having to visit the website. This is the basis of enhanced support for Ebay, Live Maps, and Me.dium
- Facebook Integration - Facebook updates right in the browser tool bar.
While some of the changes are not that important to me. The push for standards compliance is of GREAT interest. This means that the browser tweaks and fixes and work arounds for IE will go away.
This coupled with the release of Expression Web 2 Beta means for an exciting news week from Redmond.
Note this release is NOT for general consumption and can mess up your computer and such. Which is why it’s called a BETA but if you’re interested you can download IE8 here.
