I love video games.  I may not be the most leet or great but I really enjoy playing them.  I’ve got a couple of consoles at home (PS2, XBOX 360, DS, Wii) that I play on a regular basis.  Plus there is always my PC.  With the XBOX 360 they included functionality to earn points for accomplishing achievements in a games.  The feature quickly gained popularity and there is a website that has flash games that cater to the ‘Achievement Junky’.

The site is http://www.kongregate.com/ and it has dozens of games.  Not just any flash games but some that are extremely fun and addictive.  They’ve sweetened the fun by adding the ability to chat, compare high scores, and gain points and achievements.

Some of the more popular and higher rated games on the site are

• Desktop Tower Defense - A simple game where you place items that shoot enemies as they cross your screen.  Simple but very addictive.
• Protector - Similar to DTD but with a Role Playing attribute and much better graphics.
• Fancy Pants Adventure - Stick figure side scrolling adventure.  Funny and smart but uses minimal graphics.

All of these are simple Adobe Flash games.  You will need to download and install the Flash plugin/addon for your browser but if you’ve visited any video site  or game site chances are you already have the plugin.

Games can be rated and you can play them for free.  You can start earning points if you sign up for a free account.  Game developers can easily add their games to the Kongregate  library and start earning $$.
