XP Toolbar Missing Properties

I like to tweak my desktop from time to time (i.e. often) and had a slight problem with a toolbar on my taskbar.  I had removed the title and text and couldn’t un-dock, move or resize the  toolbar.  In this case it was the Quick Launch bar.  Right clicking, windows context key did not seem to help.  So after about a half hour of searching I found the answer.

While I KNOW there is a setting somewhere to turn off or on the toolbar title in the registry I just couldn’t find it.  Even almighty Google didn’t have any answers.  So for those who have problems getting their toolbars to come into line and are struggling for the quick answer here it is.

No Love For toolbar properties

Now the solution, UNLOCK your task bar. Yeah that menu item with a check in it that says ‘Lock the Taskbar’ Uncheck it.   Then click on the little dots that have now appeared.  And there you have it.

Quick and simple is the solution. I’m a little embarrassed about it. But the strange thing is that nobody else had the same problem or even wrote about it that was picked up by search engines.
